Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage in Registered Massage Therapy is a clinical approach that uses manual techniques to assess and treat musculoskeletal dysfunction, pain, and physical stress. Unlike general relaxation massage, it targets specific conditions with the goal of restoring function and promoting healing.

Purpose:

  • Alleviate chronic and acute pain

  • Improve mobility and posture

  • Support rehabilitation and injury prevention

  • Enhance physical performance and overall wellness

Common Techniques Used:

  • Swedish techniques (effleurage, petrissage) to warm tissues

  • Deep tissue massage for chronic tension

  • Myofascial release to address fascial restrictions

  • Trigger point therapy to release localized muscle knots

  • Joint mobilizations and passive stretching to improve range of motion

  • Manual lymphatic drainage for swelling and fluid retention
