Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is a foundational therapeutic technique used in Registered Massage Therapy. It involves a system of long, flowing strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, and gentle stretching, primarily aimed at relaxing muscles, improving circulation, and enhancing overall wellness.

Therapeutic Goals:

  • Promote relaxation and stress reduction

  • Increase circulation and lymphatic flow

  • Improve flexibility and joint mobility

  • Reduce muscle tension and soreness

  • Support recovery from soft tissue injuries

Applications in RMT Practice:
Swedish massage techniques are commonly integrated into treatment plans to complement deeper therapeutic approaches. They are adapted based on client needs, conditions (e.g., anxiety, muscle strain), and clinical assessments by the RMT.
